Air Force solicits five EELV launches; awards expected later this year

The Air Force released a combined request for proposals this week for five Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicle missions that will be awarded later this year. The launches include two National Reconnaissance Office payloads, a classified satellite referred to as Silent Barker, the fifth geosynchronous Space-Based Infrared System satellite and the Air Force Space Command-44 mission.
