Lockheed receives $481 million contract for Saudi Arabia frigate materials

Nearly three months after establishing a Littoral Combat Ship program office to support Saudi Arabia's expected LCS purchase, the Navy has awarded a $481 million contract for Multi-Mission Surface Combatant long-lead materials. The award is a concrete step toward production of the planned four-ship buy for Saudi Arabia. The MMSC is a derivative of Lockheed Martin's LCS Freedom-class variant. Those ships are built in Wisconsin but the company has not announced the U.S. shipyard where the ship will be built...
