Congress mandates reports on strike fighter inventory, DDG-51

The omnibus appropriations bill passed by the House and Senate calls for reports to be delivered later this year about two major Navy programs. Congress is directing the Navy secretary to provide a report about the status of the Navy's strike fighter inventory shortfall. The report must "address all investment, modernization, and sustainment efforts that impact the strike fighter inventory shortfall, including the Legacy Hornet modernization effort, the plan to modernize the Super Hornet fleet to a Block III configuration,...
