House lawmakers wary of Army recovery vehicle use

The House Appropriations Committee is worried that the Army may need to use two M88A2 Hercules recovery vehicles to tow one Abrams tank due to the tank's increased weight, according to the committee's fiscal year 2019 defense spending bill. "The inability to tow a tank with a single recovery vehicle degrades readiness and threatens to slow the pace of an entire Armored Brigade Combat Team," the accompanying report states.
