General Dynamics' board of directors has tapped Chris Marzilli, president of General Dynamics Mission Systems, to serve as executive vice president of the contractor's Information Technology and Mission Systems segments, effective Jan. 1.

Dan Johnson, who currently holds the role, intends to retire Dec. 31, the company said. Christopher Brady, vice president of engineering for GDMS, will succeed Marzilli as president of that unit.

Marzilli, who has headed GDMS since January 2015, was president of General Dynamics C4 Systems from 2006 to 2014. He joined General Dynamics through its acquisition of GTE Government Systems in 1999. Marzilli had been with that company since 1981.

Brady previously was general manager of GD's assured communications systems business area and director of radio products. He came to GD when it acquired a division of Motorola in 2001.
