Huntington Ingalls Industries said today it has agreed to buy Fulcrum IT Services, an information technology and government consulting company headquartered in Centreville, VA.

The deal is slated to close in February, and financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed, according to an HII statement. Fulcrum will join HII's technical solutions division.

The company said Fulcrum would bolster its capabilities in enhanced situational awareness and predictive threat analytics.

"The more we learned about the company, the better fit we thought that they would be with us, not only from a business standpoint but from a cultural standpoint," Andy Green, who heads the technical solutions division, told Inside Defense today.

He said Fulcrum would add depth to HII's cybersecurity and intelligence operations work. Fulcrum brings about 400 employees to Huntington Ingalls.

Green said HII will continue to be open to acquisitions, but doesn't feel pressure to make large deals.

"We've been very targeted," he said. "We have a lot of confidence in our ability to grow without having to do M&A."
