Lawmakers must work this week to avert another partial government shutdown when a stopgap continuing resolution expires on Friday. Meanwhile, senior Pentagon officials are scheduled to speak around the Washington area.

Monday

The Center for Strategic and International Studies hosts an event on defense industry consolidation called "Is Bigger Better? Concentration, Competition, and Defense Contracting Outcomes."

Tuesday

Rep. Seth Moulton (D-MA), a member of the House Armed Services Committee, speaks at the Brookings Institution about defense policy.

The House Armed Services Committee holds a hearing with outside experts on nuclear deterrence policy.

The Senate Armed Services Committee holds a hearing with the chiefs of U.S. Indo-Pacific Command and U.S. Forces-Korea.

The Hudson Institute discusses the case for reform of missile control technology.

Wednesday

Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment Ellen Lord speaks at a National Defense Industrial Association Section 809 Panel Industry Day.

Thursday

U.S. Strategic Command chief Gen. John Hyten speaks at an AFA Mitchell Hour event on "Modernizing U.S. Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications."

Huntington Ingalls Industries executives are slated to discuss quarterly earnings.
