Navy announces IOC for F-35C Joint Strike Fighter

The Navy today affirmed that its F-35C Joint Strike Fighter has achieved initial operational capability, putting the carrier variant on track with the program's time line. In an announcement from Naval Air Systems Command, the service said its first squadron earned its Safe-For-Flight Operations Certification by finishing the aircraft carrier requirements on the Nimitz-class carrier Carl Vinson (CVN-70).
