Lawmaker proposes resolution that could clear path to SPACECOM

A Florida lawmaker is offering a resolution today that would help the Pentagon clear a legislative hurdle to establishing U.S. Space Command and told Inside Defense he expects the language to be approved quickly. The Fiscal Year 2019 National Defense Authorization Act directs the Pentagon to create a new subunified command for space, but last summer, the Pentagon took that a step further, announcing it would seek to establish a new unified combatant command, the U.S. Space Force.
