Applied Insight said today it has hired several new leaders and relocated its headquarters from Ashburn, VA, to Tysons, VA.

The company was formed from multiple acquisitions and is backed by the Acacia Group.

Applied Insight turned to external hires for its corporate office. Mehdi Cherqaoui, previously the chief financial officer of Phacil, has been named CFO.

Kim Parker, previously an executive at Leidos, last year was named vice president of contracts, ethics and compliance, while Mike Grasso, formerly an executive at Engility, joined last year as senior vice president of business development. Earlier this year, Randy Carr, who previously worked at LMI and Science Applications International Corp., joined Applied Insight as vice president of human resources.

John Hynes, Applied Insight's chief executive, told Inside Defense this week the new leadership team "really accelerates" the company's effort to integrate its legacy companies.

"Being able to promote from within is important," he said. "We also needed to insert some other expertise."

He said the contractor has selected executives from within its legacy companies to lead its business units. James Rainey, formerly of AI acquisition ATG, has been tapped to lead its intelligence business, while Nathan Rickman has been named senior vice president for federal civilian. Bill Kodzis, who was part of acquisition Stratus, will lead the defense group.
