Richardson: 'Environment' required Truman retirement reversal

Chief of Naval Operations Adm. John Richardson today said the "environment" indicated the Navy should overturn its decision to retire a Nimitz-class aircraft carrier more than two decades early. Speaking at the Navy League's 2019 Sea-Air-Space conference, Richardson said the service was "always fundamentally prepared" to reverse course, should evaluations like the force-structure assessment conclude the Navy should keep the Harry S.
