Booz Allen Hamilton said today sales in its most recent quarter reached $1.8 billion, up 9% from the same three-month period the year before.

The company's quarterly profit hit $89.6 million, up nearly 9% from the prior year.

Booz Allen also today reported sales for its fiscal year, which ended March 31. The contractor said sales for the year hit $6.7 billion, up 9% from the prior year.

Full-year profit reached $418.5 million, up almost 39% from the prior year.

Booz Allen said it grew its headcount by almost 6% during the year, adding 1,430 employees.

In a call with analysts this morning, Horacio Rozanski, Booz Allen's chief executive, said the government, driven in part by preparing for great power competition, is embracing the importance of cutting-edge technology.

He said "the predominant characteristic" of Booz Allen's new employees is that they are "people who can integrate technology . . . with all of our mission knowledge and all of our expertise."
