BAE Systems picks up Riptide Autonomous Solutions

BAE Systems' U.S.-based business said today it has purchased the key assets of Riptide Autonomous Solutions, which specializes in affordable unmanned underwater vehicle technology.

The Plymouth, MA-based company focuses on small UUVs, BAE said.

Its employees will join BAE's electronic systems sector. Many will become part of BAE's FAST Labs organizations, the company said.

"The FAST Labs team looks forward to maturing Riptide's platform technology, demonstrating new solutions, and scaling manufacturing production," BAE added. "This is consistent with our strategy to acquire and incubate small business innovations that can yield disruptive technology breakthroughs for BAE Systems programs of record."
