Lockheed Martin announced late yesterday it intends to keep open a Coatesville, PA, plant after a request by President Trump.

In a tweet posted by the company, Marillyn Hewson, Lockheed's chief executive, said the president spurred her to take "another look" at the company's decision to close the facility.

Hewson said she has "decided to keep it open while we pursue additional work."

"It's a good operation with an excellent workforce," she continued. "We look forward to working with the government and PA Congressional delegation to find more work for this facility."

In a tweet, Trump responded that he was informed of the decision by Hewson and said he is "proud of Pennsylvania and the people who work there." Trump called Lockheed "one of the USA's truly great companies."

According to The New York Times, the Coatesville facility, a Sikorsky plant, employs more than 450 workers.
