Maxar Technologies said today it has named Chris Shank, the former director of the Strategic Capabilities Office, vice president of national security space.

"As part of the Global Field Operations team, Chris will manage sales, business development, account management and service delivery across Maxar's national security customer base," the company said.

Shank resigned from DOD this summer after clashing with Mike Griffin, the Pentagon's top weapons development official, over Griffin's plan to fold the SCO into the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, Inside Defense reported at the time.

Shank has also worked at Van Scoyoc Associates; the House Science, Space and Technology Committee; Honeywell Aerospace and NASA. He was an Air Force officer for 11 years.
