BAE wins contract for hybrid electric drive prototype

BAE Systems has won an award via other transaction authority to prototype hybrid electric drives for Army combat vehicles in an effort to reduce costs, the service announced yesterday. The Army Rapid Capabilities and Critical Technologies Office yesterday awarded a $32.2 million OTA to BAE Systems, who will in two years deliver two Bradley A2 surrogate vehicles retrofitted with HEDs.
