White House threatens to veto House defense policy bill

Senior advisers to President Trump will recommend he veto the House's current version of the fiscal year 2021 defense authorization bill, citing a series of provisions the White House finds objectionable, including the renaming of U.S. military bases currently honoring Confederate leaders. The provision requiring the bases be renamed is part of a "sustained effort to erase from the history of the Nation those who do not meet an ever-shifting standard of conduct," according to a statement of administration policy...
