Navy awards contract to RQ Construction for reactivated HIMARS unit's HQ, firing range

The Navy yesterday awarded a $33 million contract to California-based RQ Construction to build an operations complex for 5th Battalion, 10th Marines at Camp Lejune in North Carolina, according to a Pentagon statement.

The service in its fiscal year 2019 budget request sought the unit's reactivation focused on the High Mobility Artillery Rocket System.

RQ Construction will build a headquarters, vehicle maintenance shops, munitions storage and a live firing range for HIMARS training, according to the statement.

The service received 10 proposals to build the new complex and work is scheduled to be finished by March 2023.
