Navy contract awards reveal six top contenders to build LUSV

The Navy late last week awarded six companies with contracts to begin studies for the Large Unmanned Surface Vessel, providing an early look into which companies will vie to build the new class of ship. Huntington Ingalls Industries, Lockheed Martin, Bollinger Shipyards Lockport, Fincantieri Marinette Marine, Gibbs &Cox and Austal USA all received contracts ranging in value from $6 to $7 million.
