A former Raytheon Technologies engineer was sentenced today to 38 months in prison, according to the Justice Department.

Wei Sun had pleaded guilty to one felony count of violating the Arms Export Control Act, DOJ said.

According to the department, Sun had worked for 10 years in Tucson, AZ, for Raytheon Missiles and Defense.

"During his employment with the company, Sun had access to information directly related to defense-related technology," DOJ said. "From December 2018 to January 2019, Sun traveled from the United States to China on a personal trip. On that trip, Sun brought along [unclassified] technical information in his company-issued computer, including data associated with an advanced missile guidance system" controlled under the AECA and the International Traffic in Arms Regulations.

The Justice Department said he "knowingly transported the information to China without an export license."

Raytheon declined to comment on the case.
