The House has voted 335-78 with a veto-proof majority to pass a final fiscal year 2021 defense authorization bill, though President Trump has formally notified Congress of his plans to block the legislation.

The bill now moves to the Senate, where it is also expected to pass.

The White House Office of Management and Budget, meanwhile, has sent Congress a formal statement of administration policy notifying lawmakers Trump intends to veto the bill because it does not repeal Section 230 of the 1996 Communications Decency Act, which shields social media companies from lawsuits.

Additionally, OMB said Trump would veto the bill because it creates a commission to remove the names of Confederate leaders from U.S. military bases.

The veto-proof majority in the House, however, has put the bill on the path to final passage.
