Navy declares IOC for JPALS

The Navy's new Joint Precision Approach and Landing System reached initial operational capability on May 4, the service announced Tuesday. JPALS, built by Raytheon Technologies, is a GPS-based aircraft landing system that began development in 2008 and will be used to land aircraft on amphibious assault ships and aircraft carriers.
