Navy procurement down as FY-22 budget funds eight ships, fewer than anticipated

Despite repeated statements from lawmakers and the Navy itself that the fleet needs to grow to counter China, the Navy plans to procure just eight ships in the Biden administration's fiscal year 2022 budget. The budget totals $211.7 Billion, a $3.8 billion increase over the FY-21 budget.
