The Army today released an updated list of its "key enablers" -- programs that are directly tied to the service's top modernization efforts.

Lt. Gen. James Pasquarette, deputy chief of staff (G-8) said last month the service has invested $24 billion in 30 key enablers in the FY-22 budget that, if they don't get delivered, will not optimize a cross-functional team's capability once it's delivered.

The updated list released today includes 28 key enablers.

Among the key enablers is the Improved Turbine Engine Program, the service's next-generation helicopter engine that will be outfitted on the Future Attack Reconnaissance Aircraft, the Army's No.1 priority under its future vertical lift modernization effort.

The Tactical Intelligence Targeting Access Node is also considered a key enabler. The mobile intelligence ground station architecture will leverage space-based, aerial and terrestrial layer sensors to provide targetable data. The system provides access to low-earth orbit satellites, enables deep sensing and shortens the sensor-to-shooter loop.

Also included in the list is the Electronic Warfare Planning Management Tool, a tool for commanders to plan, control and manage the electromagnetic spectrum. The service is preparing for initial operational test and evaluation with EWPMT in the first quarter of FY-22 with an Army-side fielding scheduled to begin in the first quarter of FY-23.
