Hughes, OneWeb achieve IOC on AFRL commercial space broadband experiment

An Air Force Research Laboratory experiment aimed at demonstrating managed low-Earth orbit satellite communications services in the Arctic region achieved initial operational capability last month and is eyeing full operational capability by January. The demonstration is part of AFRL’s Defense Experimentation Using the Commercial Space Internet program, which aims to experiment with solutions for providing broadband coverage from LEO-based commercial satellite constellations and them with connecting military platforms.
