DOD fears yearlong CR as pressure for budget deal increases

Senior Pentagon officials today outlined the unprecedented damage they say would be done if Congress uses a stopgap spending measure to fund the Defense Department for a full year, while Democrats and Republicans exchanged barbs over who is to blame for the current budget impasse. Pentagon Comptroller Mike McCord told the House Appropriations defense subcommittee today DOD could tally $24 billion in “lost purchasing power” if Congress passes a yearlong continuing resolution, rather than a regular fiscal year 2022 defense...
