Army expands air defense, combat engineering in budget request

The Army will add a short-range air defense battalion and more capabilities to four engineering companies under its fiscal year 2023 budget request, according to newly released budget documents. The air-defense battalion would use 36 new Maneuver Short-Range Air Defense vehicles, and upgrading the engineering companies would bring dozens of tracked armored vehicles into the active-duty fleet, according to the documents.
