Recent surge of destroyers supports Europe, 2nd Fleet commander says

Several guided-missile destroyers were deployed on short notice to support Europe and "reaffirm our commitment to our NATO allies and partners," according to a senior Navy official. Vice Adm. David Dwyer, commander of U.S. 2nd Fleet, exercised command and control of the destroyers under Destroyer Squadron 22 from January to April. “This historic task marked the first time since our re-establishment that U.S. 2nd Fleet provided command and control for forces operating in Europe outside of an exercise,” Dwyer said...
