Fincantieri several hundred workers short, has yet to begin construction of second frigate

The Constellation-class frigate program has a labor shortage of several hundred workers and is facing schedule challenges, with construction of the second vessel yet to begin, a program official said today. The workforce at shipbuilder Fincantieri Marinette Marine’s Wisconsin yard is “a few hundred short of where we need to be,” deputy program manager Andy Bosak said at the Surface Navy Association’s National Symposium, indicating the shortage encompasses both “white-collar” and “blue-collar” jobs.
