Services Receive $6.7 Billion in Much-Needed DERF Relief

The services last month received hundreds of millions of dollars for pay and operating costs related to the war on terrorism, according to an internal reprogramming action. The Aug. 8 document outlines the transfer of $6.7 billion from the Defense Emergency Response Fund to various fiscal year 2002 appropriations accounts "in order to meet the most urgent requirements for the Global War on Terrorism."
