Gates Renews Call for an Acquisition System More Responsive to Immediate Combat Needs

Defense Secretary Robert Gates is again pressing for fundamental changes to the Pentagon's acquisition system that would make it more responsive to the immediate needs of front-line troops, changes he has advocated during the last two years and which he may be better positioned to demand of the defense bureaucracy in the Obama administration.
