Gates Weighs Creation of Cyberspace Command Under STRATCOM

Defense Secretary Robert Gates is contemplating the creation of a new command for cyberspace under the auspices of U.S. Strategic Command. Speaking at Maxwell Air Force Base, AL, yesterday, Gates said he is "looking at" establishing what he called a "sub-unified command" as part of the Omaha, NE-based combatant command. Such a sub-unified command would "encompass" the National Security Agency and "various other capabilities," he said.
