Authorization Bill Veto Threatened if F-22As, F-35 Second Engine are Included

The White House today threatened to veto the fiscal year 2010 defense authorization bill if Congress votes to continue F-22A Raptor production and fund a second engine for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter. The announcement comes a week after the House Armed Services Committee passed the FY-10 bill, which included $365 million in advance procurement for 12 Raptors and legislative language mandating the Pentagon fund the alternative JSF F136 engine program run by General Electric and Rolls-Royce.
