House Lawmakers Add $362 Million To FY-11 Missile Defense Budget

The House Armed Services strategic forces subcommittee last week marked up a portion of the fiscal year 2011 defense authorization bill that includes an additional $361.6 million for missile defense programs above and beyond the Obama administration's $9.9 billion request. The increase is meant "to strengthen our defenses against the most immediate threats from nations such as Iran and North Korea," subcommittee Chairman James Langevin (D-RI) said May 12.
