Air Force To Lift SBIRS GEO-1 Satellite To The Payload Adapter Next Week

Air Force officials will lift the first Space-Based Infrared System geosynchronous orbit satellite onto the payload adapter and encapsulate it within the Atlas V payload fairings next week, according to a service spokeswoman. The service started fueling operations for the GEO-1 satellite on April 8 and completed those operations on April 12, according to Jeff Smith, the SBIRS vice president and program director for Lockheed Martin.
