Biden names DOD transition team

President-elect Joe Biden has named nearly two-dozen people to his Defense Department agency review team to ensure "a smooth transfer of power" and help the new administration "hit the ground running on Day One."

The DOD team will be led by former Obama administration Pentagon official Kath Hicks, who is currently an analyst at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, according to a statement from Biden's transition team.

Other team members include former DOD comptroller Mike McCord, now with the Stennis Center for Public Service, former DOD policy chief Christine Wormuth, now with RAND Corp. and former DOD acquisition official Andrew Hunter, now with CSIS.

A full list can be seen on Biden's presidential transition website.

"These teams are composed of highly experienced and talented professionals with deep backgrounds in crucial policy areas across the federal government," according to the Biden team. "The teams have been crafted to ensure they not only reflect the values and priorities of the incoming administration, but reflect the diversity of perspectives crucial for addressing America's most urgent and complex challenges."

Meanwhile, President Trump refuses to concede the election and has alleged massive voter fraud without providing supporting evidence. He has also fired former Defense Secretary Mark Esper and has blocked activities that would begin transitioning to Biden's administration.

Though Biden was congratulated today by the leaders of the United Kingdom, France and Germany, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said during a press conference he expects there to be a "smooth transition to a second Trump administration."

While there has been speculation that Pompeo was only joking, Trump continues to charge fraud and, with the backing of many senior Republicans, claims he is the rightful winner of the election.
