AFSOC Drops Plan To Replace U-28 Spy Plane With MC-12 Liberty Turboprop

Air Force Special Operations Command has backed away from a plan to replace its U-28A tactical surveillance aircraft with the MC-12W Liberty, a turboprop aircraft currently assigned to the Air Force's 9th Reconnaissance Wing. Speaking at a March 18 Air Force Association event in Washington, AFSOC chief Lt. Gen. Bradley Heithold confirmed the transfer would not proceed. Instead, AFSOC will keep flying the U-28A.
