Pentagon drawing fire from GOP on $59B OCO request

The Pentagon will request a $59 billion overseas contingency operations budget in fiscal year 2017, setting the stage for yet another fiscal showdown on Capitol Hill over defense spending. Defense Secretary Ash Carter on Tuesday announced the Defense Department would seek $524 billion in base spending for FY-17 and Pentagon spokesman Mark Wright confirmed that an additional $59 billion would be requested for the OCO account.
