Administration Opposes House Proposal To Boost Military End Strength

The Bush administration opposes increases to active military end strength approved last week by the House Armed Services Committee, according to a statement of administration policy released today. The personnel increases contained in the panel's fiscal year 2003 defense authorization bill "are not necessary to sustain the war on terrorism and support other security requirements," the document states.
