Aegis Ships to Receive Initial Single Integrated Air Picture Capability This Fall

The Navy's Aegis cruisers are slated to receive an initial version of the Single Integrated Air Picture capability this fall, according to a Defense Department official. The move will introduce joint track management on the Aegis fleet, which means the vessels' sensors and command and control systems will use standardized algorithms to visualize airborne objects on command center screens, DOD's Robin Quinlan said in an interview with InsideDefense.com.
