Air Force Considering 10 Percent Cut To General Officer Ranks

The Air Force is considering cutting 10 percent of its general officer ranks and reducing the number of management positions at its headquarters facilities as part of its effort to wring out $28.3 billion in overhead costs over the next five years, Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. Norton Schwartz said today. Finalized recommendations are expected to be included in the Pentagon's fiscal year 2012 budget proposal, which is slated to go to Capitol Hill for review early next year...
