Army Awards Raytheon-Lockheed Martin $383 Million for Continued Javelin Production

The Army today awarded a $383 million contract to a joint venture between Raytheon and Lockheed Martin as part of their $1.2 billion multiyear contract to manufacture the shoulder-fired Javelin anti-armor weapon system, according to a Pentagon announcement. The "fire and forget" device features a self-directing missile, allowing the soldier to move after firing. The design was created as a replacement for the M47 Dragon anti-tank missile.
