Army Issues Stop-Loss Order To Troops Headed To Gulf

In apparent preparation for a war with Iraq, the Army last week barred soldiers scheduled for deployment to the Central Command theater from leaving active duty. The Army announced Feb. 20 that certain active component troops already in the CENTCOM area of responsibility and those that have been put on alert for deployment to the region may not retire.
