Army Provides Congress With List of $4.8 Billion in Unfunded Requirements

The Army has identified $4.8 billion in requirements that went unfunded in the president's fiscal year 2006 budget request, according to a letter sent last week to Congress. The largest single item in the unfunded requirements list is $1.2 billion for base operations support -- efforts that the Army claims would "directly support readiness," to include transportation services, law enforcement, Army community services, child care, fitness centers and environmental programs.
