ATK, Textron Awarded $54 Million Contract To Develop Remote-Controlled Land Mine

The Army has awarded a joint venture of subsidiaries of Alliant Techsystems and Textron a $53.8 million contract to finish developing a remote-controlled and self-destructible land mine, the two companies announced today. Plymouth, MN-based ATK Integrated Defense and Wilmington, MA-based Textron Systems will "jointly complete development of a hand-emplaced munitions system that will serve as an alternative to or replacement for current non-self-destructing anti-personnel landmines," a joint statement reads.
