Bipartisan Group Of Senators Bashes Shipbuilding Cuts

Sen. John Breaux (D-LA) and six other senators have asked President Bush to cancel plans to significantly cut shipbuilding in the Navy's fiscal year 2006 budget. Sens. Mary Landrieu (D-LA), Thad Cochran (R-MS), Trent Lott (R-MS), Jack Reed (D-RI), Lincoln Chafee (R-RI) and Olympia Snowe (R-ME) joined Breaux in signing a two-page letter to Bush, dated today. Louisiana and Mississippi are home to shipyards owned by Northrop Grumman. General Dynamics owns shipyards in Maine and Connecticut, which borders Rhode Island...
