Boeing Wins $3.9 Billion MMA Contract

The Navy has selected a modified Boeing 737 jet for its new Multimission Maritime Aircraft program rather than a competing Lockheed Martin proposal. Boeing won a $3.9 billion contract for development work and the construction of three MMA aircraft, the Pentagon announced late today. The MMA program is intended to carry out long-range missions for anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface warfare and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance.
