BRAC Proposal Calls For Creation of Army 'Centers of Excellence'

The Army will draw on the Pentagon's Base Realignment and Closure recommendations to create "centers of excellence" that consolidate efforts and coordinate doctrine and training, the service said today. The BRAC recommendations include calls for the closure of 15 active-duty Army installations, including Ft. Monroe, VA, Ft. Monmouth, NJ and Ft. McPherson, GA. Ft. Monmouth is home to the Communications-Electronics Command; Ft. McPherson is the home of the Army's Forces Command; and Ft. Monroe is where Training and Doctrine Command...
