Brooks: NNSA On Track With Post-9/11 Security Upgrades

By the end of fiscal year 2006, National Nuclear Security Administration officials expect to achieve full compliance with security requirements adopted two years ago to better protect agency facilities from terrorists, NNSA Administrator Linton Brooks told lawmakers today. The requirements derive from a 2003 classified Energy Department document called the "Design Basis Threat," which identifies potential dangers to the nuclear weapons complex, including those posed by criminals, spies, disgruntled employees, violent activists, as well as terrorists.
