Bush Delivers $401.7 Billion Budget Request to Congress

President Bush today sent to Congress a $401.7 billion defense budget request to fund the war on terrorism and efforts to retool the military for the 21st century. The fiscal year 2005 request is nearly $22 billion more than the amount Bush requested a year ago for DOD, without taking into consideration FY-04 supplemental funding for military and reconstruction activities in Iraq and Afghanistan.
